¨ Tdap booster shot is required for all incoming 7th graders

All incoming 7th graders must show proof of an adolescent whooping cough booster shot (Tdap) prior to starting school. The Tdap booster shot must be given on or after the 10th birthday. By law, students who do not have proof of receiving a Tdap booster shot will not be able to start off the school year until proof of the immunization is provided to the school. (The tetanus-diphtheria booster shot, Td, will not meet the requirement). Remember, no immunization ~ no proof ~ no school.

What’s WEB?  WEB is Where Everybody Belongs!  NJHS 8th grade WEB leaders and teacher mentors have gone through a special training just for our incoming 7^th graders.  WEB pairs 8^th grade mentors with 7th graders for a day of fun activities! Let us help you to prepare for a smooth and successful transition to Newark Junior High School when our WEB Crew will spend the day with you.   So mark your calendars and please attend!

7^th Grade WEB Day (sponsored by our WEB Crew is scheduled for Monday, August 19^th from 9:00 AM to 12:30PM starting  in the gymnasium.  There is a free BBQ lunch for all 7^th grade students who attend, so don’t miss out!

Dear 7^th Grade Parents,

We are very excited your child will be attending Newark Junior High and we look forward to meeting him or her on WEB Orientation Day on Monday, August 19^th from 9:00am to 12:30pm.  The sole purpose of WEB is to help 7^th graders feel more comfortable as well as help them achieve success in their first year of junior high school.

The WEB 7^th grade transition program is designed to both welcome and support 7^th graders by assigning them two 8^th grade WEB leaders as mentors during their first year.  This WEB Leader is a responsible older student who was hand selected from a large pool of applicants and has met the qualifications of being a good role model and a positive leader on our campus. 

WEB Day Tips:

Your child is encouraged to dress comfortably and to not bring a backpack, purse or other like items as the day is quite active!

7^th Grade students will not get schedules on WEB day!

Your child will get a free BBQ lunch on WEB day!

This is a student-only function so we encourage you to let your child attend on her or his own.

For any family that has moved residence since August 27^thand has not already provided the school with proof of residency.  Please notify the office so we can update our records. Parents: Please be patient in our parking lot as it tends to be very crowded during the rainy season.Also, a reminder about the mornings: please do not drop off your child before 8:00 a.m. Parents, please do not stop in the fire lane where the curbs are painted red when dropping off or picking up your child.

Students: If you walk to school and pass by the football field, continue on the Lafayette Avenue sidewalk until you get to the front of the school.  DO NOT walk across the parking lot before school or after school to save time. Stay on the sidewalk and be safe!
