Dear Cougar Families,
Welcome to a new school year at Newark Middle School! We are excited to be learning together, in person, and building a strong, supportive community. Our teachers and staff are committed to helping every student grow academically and socially as they prepare for success in high school, college, and beyond.
At NMS, we focus on student engagement, regular assessments, and social emotional learning. We use academic data to inform our teaching, set clear goals for growth, and support students at every level. We also strive to ensure that every student feels safe, connected, and empowered on campus.

Attendance matters! If your student is absent, please call our attendance line at 510-818-3000.
Opportunities for Monthly Parent Involvement:
- School Site Council Meetings: The 3rd Wednesday of each month, 3:00pm – 4:00pm
- ELAC Meetings: The 3rd Thursday of each month, 9:00am -10:00am
- Principal’s Coffee: The 4th Tuesday of each month, 8:45am – 9:45am
- PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, 7:00pm – 8:00pm (Contact PTSA.njhs@gmail.com)
I am excited to serve as the principal of Newark Middle School. It is my privilege to be part of a community of students, parents, and teachers who share a common goal: to build and support the academic and social growth of our next generation.
