Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2022/2023 school year.

Welcome to Cougar Country!

As the principal of Newark Junior High School, I am excited to share that our staff is eager to start down a new path in the 2022/23 school year. As you all know, the integration of sixth grade to our campus has been an exuberating time to grow. With both sixth and seventh grade students new to the school, sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students all have an opportunity to forge this school into a wonderful, collective, and collaborative site. With every day, we have much to celebrate. The 2022/23 school-year is about opening doors and leveraging a newfound energy to return to what we do best; being part of a community that actively engages in opportunities to grow both academically and socially. We all take part in creating a positive, safe, and vibrant environment committed to respecting, valuing, and supporting each other’s journey.

As we approach each new school year, we are reminded of our mission:

“Educate students to high levels of academic performance, preparing students for the 21st century, while also fostering a positive school climate and student growth in social/emotional behaviors and attitudes.”

At NJHS, we take a three-pronged approach to our community: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible..

Most importantly, we want students to LOVE coming to school. Whether that’s because of the academic challenges overcome, making new social connections, or because they’ve connected to a club or a sport, we want this experience to be one where they thrive and rediscover the joy of learning.

We wish everyone a fantastic 2022/23 school year! Go Cougars!
